Masters Division 1

Paul Drew (Celbridge Town FC)

The Masters Div 1 player of the year grew up playing for his local club and at the age of 19 had become a mainstay in the centre of midfield for the clubs most successful ever senior team, as they rose to the top of the Leinster Senior League football ladder. He played in the clubs narrow 1-0 defeat to Longford in the FAI cup in 2007. He then moved to another club for a number of years, playing in the top tier of Leinster Senior League Football.

Since the formation of his clubs Over 35 team in 2022 he has been the teams playmaker. Most other teams will have recognised him as the player who makes the team work, but his style of play is such that preventing him from doing so is very difficult. Willing to take the ball anywhere his awareness and technical ability, coupled with this bravery on the ball, allow him to start play for the team. Physically, his languid movement is deceptive, and his pace and strength is sometimes overlooked. He has been one of the most consistent, and best performers for the team over the last 2 years, and hopefully will continue to be into the future.
