2026 Club applications : MS Club application links will be forwarded in the coming

weeks to all Clubs. The League remain in their closed Season for the time being.

New FAI Registration and transfer windows – VERY IMPORTANT INFO.

Winter Season (1st July to 30th June)

a) The first transfer period is from 1st July to 23rd September inclusive (where a player

registered with a club is registering with a different club).

b) The second transfer period is from 1st January to 28th January (where a player

registered with a Club is registering with a different club) subject to a shortened /

truncated season as further detailed in Regulation 11.3 of the FAI Handbook

Calendar Season (1st January to 31st December)

c) The first transfer period is from 1st January to 22nd March (where a player registered

with a Club is registering with a different club) save for: • all of League of Ireland football

(including, but not limited to, the League of Ireland Academy Development Programme)

where the first transfer window for players moving into or across League of Ireland clubs

(including the League of Ireland Academy Development Programme) is 1st December

until 22nd February (inclusive).

d) The second transfer period is from 1st July to 28th July (where a player registered with

a Club is registering with a different club).

A player that is not registered with a club may register for a club at any time, subject

always to compliance with the provisions of these Regulations including, but not limited

to,: (i) Section 6, Regulation 2.4 ; and (ii) the Periods for the Assignment of a Player to a

Competition set out in the FAI Handbook

Summary

 The Transfer Period for Winter Seasons in the Amateur game closes on 28th

January

 The Transfer Period for Summer Seasons in the Amateur game now closes on

22nd March

 Only LOI clubs registering players can currently Transfer players as per the

regulations up until 22nd February.

FAI Adult Amateur Licence (Coaching Course). FULLY FUNDED BY THE KDFL FOR

THE FIRST 16 KDFL PARTICIPANTS (UPDATE 04/01/26) Course now fully

subscribed) Full details will be relayed shortly to all participants) Coming in late

Jan/early February (Date to be confirmed). Booking via club secretary (will be sent a link).

Content: This 16-hour course covers all aspects of adult amateur football, including

theoretical and practical content such as the framework of the game, football actions, and

coaching practice demonstrations.

Prerequisites: Participants must have completed Garda vetting and the Child Welfare


Safeguarding 1 course before enrolling.  This licence is designed for coaches working in

the adult amateur game and represents a cost-effective entry point into formal FAI

coaching qualifications. 

Further Sports Specific First Aid

Following on from our very successful fully funded sports specific first aid courses, the

KDFL have committed themselves to provided further free courses on sports specific first

aid on the 11 and 12 th February (7pm to 9.30pm central local – venue to be confirmed)

in preparation for the 2026 Season. Please note all participants must complete the two

evenings to be certified.

FAI Junior Cup 2026 (Men) FAI Women’s Amateur Cup 2026 Application are open :

Links have been forwarded to all clubs in relation to the FAI Junior Cup 2026 (Summer

competition – Preliminary round end Feb) Closing date for receipt of applications is

Saturday 31 January 2026.
