Old Fort Celtic FC 8 Coill Dubh AFC 2

Old Fort ran out convincing 8-2 winners over Coill Dubh on home soil after a dominant

display that combined solid defending with ruthless finishing. The home side started

brightly and applied early pressure on the Coill Dubh defence, but the visitors stood firm

and kept the game scoreless during the opening stages.

The breakthrough arrived in spectacular fashion. A Coill Dubh clearance was collected by

Danny Bland on the halfway line. After skipping past a defender, Bland unleashed a

stunning strike from 35 yards that gave the goalkeeper no chance, crashing in off the

underside of the crossbar to open the scoring. Old Fort doubled their advantage in the

23rd minute. Patryk Staniec latched onto a long ball down the left wing and drove towards

goal. With a shooting opportunity presenting itself, he instead showed great awareness to

square the ball for Daryl Ntumba, who tapped into an empty net.

Staniec then took centre stage, scoring twice in the space of four minutes. Both goals

were expertly taken, extending Old Fort’s lead to 4-0 and putting them firmly in control. To

their credit, Coill Dubh continued to battle and were rewarded in the 42nd minute when

Jamie Gartland finished neatly from just inside the penalty area to reduce the deficit.

Old Fort made the perfect start to the second half. Just two minutes after the restart,

Ashby Bermeo threaded a pinpoint pass through the Coill Dubh defence, sending Staniec

clear on goal. The striker kept his composure to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-1.

Coill Dubh responded in the 50th minute when Devine got on the end of a cross to finish

from close range at the back post, narrowing the score to 5-2. However, Old Fort quickly

regained control. In the 64th minute, Ntumba grabbed his second goal of the game,

meeting a Liam Brown corner to make it 6-2. The home side added two more goals

before the final whistle. A Coill Dubh defender inadvertently headed a back pass beyond

his own goalkeeper for an own goal, before Aaron Rafter rounded off the scoring with a

fine header following excellent work down the left wing from Bermeo.

The final whistle confirmed an emphatic 8-2 victory for Old Fort, who will take great

confidence from a clinical attacking display and an impressive all-round team

performance. Danny Bland was outstanding at the heart of the defence, while Liam

Brown and Ashby Bermeo impressed in midfield. The Man of the Match award, however,

went to Patryk Staniec, whose hat-trick takes his league tally to eight goals for the

season.
