Clane United FC came away with all three points in this Division 1 game on Sunday against an under strength Suncroft side. The home side came out of the traps early and went 1-0 up early on through Mofe Awomewe when he struck from outside the box. The home side were impressive from the start and doubled their advantage soon after through Oli Obgogoh following good work from Stephen Agbele.
The visitors started to get a hold on the game and reduced the deficit to a single goal following a fantastic strike from Aaron McDonald finding the top corner of Paddy Foster goal from an unbelievable angle brining Suncroft back into the game. Clane instantly responded to put two between the sides again when Awomewe scored his second following good approach work from Joseph Lukumu. Clane scored a fourth before the break when Fionn Coyle hits a freekick and strikes the crossbar when an alert Oli Obgogoh responds and heads home. Leaving Clane 4-1 up at the break and in control.
The home side were reduced to ten men early in the second half when Anthony Connors saw red.
A few stern words at half time from the Corft management saw different side come out in the second half however they could make no in roads into the scoreline as Clane’s defence held firm.
The home side finished the stronger and added a fifth later on when Mofe Awomewe completed an all round good performance when he set up Stephen Agbele for Clane’s fifth to leave the final score Clane 5 Suncroft 1. Best for the home side were Agbele and Awomewe while for Suncroft James Maguire, Dylan O Reilly Guilfoyle, Josh Thackaberry, Daragh Kearney and Jack Duggan were best.
