KDFL Division 3
Suncroft AFC 3 St Anthonys Youths FC 5
A very short staffed Antos side travelled the short distance to take on near neighbours Suncroft. The home side drew first blood to make it 1-0 on the 4th minute through Liam Conway. Antos then slipping straight into gear and on the fifth minute Keith Powell opened his account for the day being first to capitalize on the loose ball to make it 1-1 .
The visitors took control them and went on to make it 2-1 with Ben Donnelly finding the back of the net after great build up play between debutant Bernard Redmond who set up Donnelly who finished well 2-1.
Suncroft were not out of the game yet and deservedly draw level following some great passages of play, Ben Sinnott finding the net through a spot kick after they were awarded a penalty to make it 2-2. Infact Suncroft were unluck not to go 3-2 up when they were awarded another penalty, however that was stuck wide, this proved a big let off for Antos and they regrouped.
Antos were looking to get back into the driving seat went down the other end and a excellent build up from Ben Donnelly and Keith Powell, left Powell in the box he dragged it passed the last man and slotted home into the bottom corner for his second , and to make it 3-2.
then just on the stroke of half time after excellent work from Andy on the left and Phillipe Lucas , ended with the ball spilling to Keith Powell leaving him with a simple finish from 6yards to make it 4-2 and complete his first half hat trick.
The 2nd half started and Antos took control of the game dominating possession and creating a few half chances and playing some lovely football along the way, Antos closed their account for the day when the through ball found Bernard Redmond’s well timed run and he set it up for Ben Donnelly who’s shot that was goal bound hit off their defender and went into the back of the net. Best for the winners were Keith Powell, Bernard Redmond, Dan Culleton and Ben Donnelly but Arthur Clarke takes the man of the match for Antos for covering every blade of grass and dominating the midfield from start to finish. Best for the home side were Ben Sinnott, Caolan, Aaron and Aaron fin and Jamie Sherri while for the winners Keith Powell,
